This is the build for Luke Dillon. Luke is the U18 English Champion and we are pleased to be building a board for such a talented rider. We will post pics of the build process, charting the board progress, plus a few notes along the way. We will be capturing the launch on video courtesy of Catchawave Surf Video Productions & Photos

Update 15th September

The Luke Dillon board is finished, Below are the finished pics

The Hot Coat is now on the Bottom Deck! The fins are going to look amazing on this board. I used a European Beech accent strip to keep the continuity of the top deck. The contrast really stands out.

I have now Glassed both decks on Lukes board, the finished shape is exactly what I was trying to achieve. Here are some pics of the board so far. Really looking forward to seeing Luke rippin on this board!!

Update 03rd August

We have now glued the top deck of Lukes board onto the frame. The board is really taking shape now. The wood used is a combination of Balsa, European Beech & Iroko. Next steps are to glue the Rail strips on, and fit the fins. Going for Balsa Thruster fins. Gonna look sweet..............

Next Steps....

The next steps are the decks. I have used a combination of Balsa, Iroko & European Beech for both the Top & Bottom decks. Deck thickness is approx 5mm. This should keep the weight down as European Beech is incredibly dense.

The deck looks real nice. The contrast between the diferent wood will look great. The Resin really pulls the grain out and makes it pop!

The board is really taking shape now. This baby will fly down the wave. At only 18 1/2" wide, but with some volume the weight transfer will be special. The increased nose rocker will allow a later take off.

Looking forward to see this in the water now.

Here is the build so far, last update 22nd July 2009

We have designed the board based on Lukes board he rides for his sponsors. Due to composition of a HWS, we needed to make the board a bit thicker in the Crown than Luke is used to. The dims for Lukes board are:

Length ~ 5'11" Width ~ 18 1/2" Thickness ~1 3/4" Nose Rocker ~ 4 1/2"

We then cut the Frame template sections with 6mm Marine Ply.This sets up the board shape, making it arguably the most important part of the build.

After Glue up on the frame, the board shape starts to become evident. There is a few small steps that are critical to the board that we have flown by. These will be explained during one of our stock board builds. The frame has strengtheners on the nose, due to the thickness of the board and amount of rocker. I will reduce this once glued to the botom deck.

The next stage is to glue the bottom deck. The main points to watch here are Wood selection and clamping. For the Wood selection I have gone with Balsa to keep the weight down, and I love the way the grain comes out with the Resin. I am also including a couple of European Beech accent strips. Should look sweet. I am not putting too much detail on the bottom deck, as any decal will be positioned here.
